I have developed a small, FPS-style PlayStation 3 project, Shooty Cubes, in which the aim of the game is to shoot all of the cubes in the arena within the time limit. In the time using the PS3 development kits, it was not possible to learn all of the advanced techniques of using all of the SPUs, as such this project just uses what is available with the PPU.
Throughout the project I covered the following: Working with model data (including vertices, colours and indexed data), graphics pipeline, VBOs, transformations, working with the Dualshock 3 controller, matrix stack, cameras and lighting, materials and textures, managing assets, collision detection, and user interfaces.
Due to confidentiality involving the PlayStation 3 hardware, it’s not possible to provide the code. Instead I have provided a video of the completed demo.
